چکیده

Endometrial biopsies are useful for evaluating endometrial disease, but the presence of non-endometrial, noncervical tissue is rare and is typically restricted to metastasis to the endometrial cavity. We report, for the first time, a case of an endometrial biopsy seeded with serous cells in a young patient with a known history of a serous borderline tumor of the ovary. Given the patient’s diagnosis of an ovarian serous borderline tumor, the most likely explanation for the presence of serous cells in her endometrial biopsy is transit via the fallopian tube into the endometrial cavity. The morphologic and IHC profile of the cells from the endometrial biopsy were consistent with that of the ovarian tumor counterpart. The impact of this finding on tumor prognosis cannot be determined, and follow-up should be observed. *Corresponding author: Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Desouki, Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, C-3321 MCN, Nashville, TN 37232-2561, USA, Tel: 615 343 9540; Fax: 615 322 0511; E-mail: [email protected] Received October 07, 2013; Accepted October 29, 2013; Published October 31, 2013 Citation: Gonzalez RS, Chamberlain BK, Giannico G, Fadare O, Crispens MA, et al. Borderline Ovarian Serous Adenofibromatous tumor with Prominent Micropapillary Pattern

Ovarian borderline serous tumors are uncommon. Combination of borderline serous adenofibromatous tumor and prominent micro papillary architecture is not previously reported. We report a case of borderline papillary serous adenofibromatous tumor (also called serous adenocarcinofibroma) with extensive micropapillary pattern in a 27 year-old married woman. She was infertile and presented with diff...

"Surface epithelial changes" in uterine endometrioid carcinoma mimicking micropapillary serous borderline tumor of ovary: report of two cases and review of the literature

We encountered two cases of endometrioid carcinoma of uterus with extensive surface epithelial changes (SECs) mimicking serous borderline tumor (SBT) of the ovary. The first case was a well-differentiated endometrioid carcinoma arising in a background of complex atypical hyperplasia. The second case was moderately-differentiated endometrioid carcinoma with squamous and mucinous differentiation....

تومور بوردرلاین موسینوس تخمدان هم‌زمان با آدنوکارسینومای سرویکس در یک بیمار: گزارش موردی

Background: Ovarian mucinous borderline tumors are divided into two morphologic groups: endocervical-like and intestinal type. Most endocervical adenocarcinomas exhibit mucinous and/or endometrioid differentiation, they infrequently metastasize to the ovaries but may simulate primary ovarian tumors (both atypical proliferative or borderline and carcinoma). In patients with mucinous adenocarcino...
